In a reverse twist on the Robin Hood story, a young medieval maiden stands up for the rights of the mistreated, stealing from the rich to give to the poor. All the while, she fights against her cruel uncle who has taken over the land that is rightfully hers. Forced to live in the woods and hide with the poor people she’s grown to love, she works to save and protect them, but she never anticipates falling in love with the wealthy knight who represents all she’s come to despise.
I read this book in one sitting. I absolutely couldn’t put it down! Juliana is an amazingly strong lady. Collin is one of the sweetest characters I have ever heard of. The romance in the book was adorable. I’m glad that Jody Hedlund didn’t make the characters fall in love right away. I think the responses to the feelings was appropriate. All in all this was a good book. That being said I do think that this is similar to other stories I have read. I get that the book is a retelling or twist on Robin Hood, I just think that it could have been a little more unique. Rich lady gets thrown from her land by a family member, lives poor, falls in love with a rich guy, lives happily ever after etc. That is the only downfall I can find in the book.
I give this book a 4 out of 5 stars!
I received this book free from the publisher through BookLook Bloggers. The opinions and thoughts are 100% my own, I promise.
