American Horror Story

September 22, 2016

I have been looking for a new television show to watch on Netflix lately. I decided to start a popular show that I had never seen. I decided to start watching American Horror Story. I have heard lots of stuff about it and I have a lot of friends that are obsessed with it. I have seen previews for it and personally I thought it was super strange. I finished season one last night. I was kinda confusing at first when I first started watching it. But I can say by the time the season ended I really liked it. I can’t say that I will become addicted to it but I am watching season two now. I was recently told that every season of the show is completely different and has nothing to do with the one before. Also the actors from the first season play different characters in each season. That is a new thing to me as normal television shows that have multiple season all connect and go together, ya know? I don’t know if I can get over the different shows each season of it but I will give it a chance. Now I wanted to add a summary of season one.I am gonna make it a timeline so that it makes more sense. There will be spoilers ahead so be warned. If you have not watched the show and don’t want to know what happens don’t read any farther.

***Spoilers Ahead***

The “Murder House” is built by Dr. Charles Montgomery, an acclaimed surgeon to the stars, for his wife, Nora, and their son, Thaddeus. Charles eventually becomes addicted to drugs and develops a Frankenstein complex. Nora begins sending in young women to receive abortions from the doctor, but one of the girls lets the secret slip, and the father of her aborted baby takes revenge by stealing Charles and Nora’s child and returning him to the couple in jars. Dr. Montgomery then attempts to bring the child back to life by sewing him together, and placing one of their girl’s hearts in him. When Nora sees the new Thaddeus, who seems to crave blood and flesh rather than her milk, she tries to kill him but is not successful. Nora goes crazy and shoots her husband, then herself.

The Black Dahlia stops by the “Murder House” for dental work from Dr. David Curan. She is an actress short on cash and has heard that Dr. Curan will accept other methods of payment. She is willing to do whatever she has to in exchange for her dental work. Dr. Curan makes no mention of his intentions with her, but places a mask over her mouth, and while she is unconcious, has sex with her. He accidently leaves the mask on her for too long, and she dies. Dr. Curan then drags her body down into the basement, where is is confronted by an eager Dr. Montomery, who claims he will “make the body more portable”.

R. Franklin stops by the “Murder House” for a brief visit with its current inhabitants, Gladys and Maria. A traumatic event earlier in his life involving mercury in a broken thermometer forever scarred him, and caused a deep hate against nurses. He gets into the house claiming he is injured and in need of help. While aiding him, Maria discovers he is not actually injured, and he kills both of them. Gladys is drowned in the bathtub upstairs, and Maria is stabbed in the back multiple times while tied up, dressed in a nurse’s outfit.

The twins, Troy and Bryan, pay a short visit to the “Murder House” despite a younger Adelaide warning them that they’re “going to die in there”. Troy and Bryan are lured into the basement and killed by Thaddeus.

Constance discovers her husband Hugo having an affair with their maid Moria, and kills them both. She shoots Moria directly in the eye, and Hugo multiple times in the chest. She then proceeds to bury Moria in the backyard. She did not however, want to bury the two together, and instead fed Hugo to the dogs whom she cared for in her basement as a part of her “Doggy Daycare” business.

Constance and the kids are still living in the “Murder House” but the bills are piling up. A much younger Tate, possibly seven-years old, meets Thaddeus in the basement, and Nora saves his life, teaching him the “Go away” method to warding off ghosts.

Constance and her three kids lose the “Murder House” and moves in to the house next door.

Larry, his wife, and their two kids move into the “Murder House”. Larry has an affair with Constance, and tells his wife move elsewhere with the children. She doesn’t take the news well, and sets fire to the children’s bedroom, killing her and their two kids.

Constance and her three children move back into the “Murder House” with Larry. Larry kills Beau. Tate eventually goes crazy and goes to where Larry works, and lights him on fire. Tate then goes to his high school and shoots and kills fifteen of his classmates. Tate is then killed in the house by a SWAT team.

The gay couple, Chad and Patrick, move into the “Murder House”. Patrick begins seeing other men. They try to see the house and go their separate ways, but are killed by the Rubberman (Tate) on Halloween. Tate’s reasoning behind this is that he had planned on acquiring a baby for Nora, paying her back for what she had done for him as a child. Chad and Patrick had talked of adopting a baby, but when it appeared that they were going to break up and that there would be no baby, Tate killed them both so a new family would move in and have a baby.

The Harmons move into the “Murder House”, pursuing an escape from their lives in Boston. Violet becomes friends with Tate before she knows he is a Ghost. Vivien is raped by Rubberman (Tate) and she becomes pregnant. She is pregnant with twins. Each have different fathers, Ben and Tate. The Harmons all eventually die, Violet of an overdose, Vivien while giving birth to twins, and Ben is hung by Hayden and the intruders when he tries to leave with one of the babies. Constance takes the child that is fathered by Tate, her son. Nora took the other child fathered by Ben, that she later gives back to Vivien because she can not handle being a mother. Even though the Harmons are dead and their souls are stuff in the house forever they are now happy.

I just finished season 2 last night. I liked season 1 better honestly. Season 2 was predictable to me which in turn made it boring.

When I first started watching American Horror Story it was when it came out. The first season was kind of meh in my opinion but I decided to watch the second anyway and that’s when I became hooked. Season 2 was the one that did it for me. It was weird getting used to the actors playing different characters each season but after a while I liked it. That’s the great thing about American Horror Story, you don’t get bored with the characters. Each season it’s different and if you hate an actor/actress one season you might love them the next!

See I am different in my opinion I liked season 1 but didn’t like season 2. I thought it was too predictable in my opinion. I do agree that it is weird getting used to the actors playing different characters each season. It is pretty neat to see how they actors are at playing different people though. I think you definitely have to be a great actor to do that.

Really? I honestly lost interest in the show at season 3. A lot of people seem to really like season 3 so I might have to give it another chance.
