Ghost Eyed Dogs

April 8, 2016

Can you guess what breed of dog is named the ghost eyed dog? If you guessed the Australian Shepherd, also known as the Aussie, then you got it!

The Indians called the Australian shepherd the ghost eye dogs obviously cause the eyes. Aussies can have a variety of eye colors though. They range from black, green, blue, brown, are marbled. Some dogs can even have 2 different colored eyes.

Australian shepherds coats come in multiple different colors. The colors are usually red or black bi, red or black tri, red or blue merle. Most aussie’s have bobbed tails. Some are naturally born with bobbed tails while other are bobbed after birth. Though some choose to keep the tail on their amazing pet.

From my experience these are amazing dogs. They are intelligent and can be taught quickly. Energized bunny lives inside of these dogs I swear! They wouldn’t do good in apartments. Big yards with lots of room to run and plan are perfect for them. I warn you they love to herd. Kids, farm animals, other dogs, it doesn’t matter to them as long as its moving.

My baby girl Sadie is a blue merle with brown eyes.

There is actually one more type of aussie I decided last minute to add in here. It is a what some call a double merle. These dogs usually have a hearing or seeing disability. This is what happens when irresponsible people breed two merles together. The dog below is named Sloan.

Aussies are like chips. You can never stop at just one! I have had my girl Sadie for going on 3 years now and I already want more. They are one of the best breeds in the world to have in my opinion. All the owners of the dogs pictured gave me permission to use these photos.

If you have an aussie leave a comment down below and tell me what color coat and eyes do your pet have. If you don’t have any aussie, do you want one? If so, why?

I have a cryptic blue Merle with blue eyes and a red tri with golden eyes that I love. Aussies are the best breed out there! My male sits with my daughter while she reads him stories and my female jumps on the trampoline with her! They would lay their lives down for any one of us.. They are a beautiful, intelligent and protective breed! Each one’s unique and being a breeder you get to see each color and personality.. Ever Aussie is unique coat, color and personality!!

I love them. I can’t wait to get another. I want to breed my blue merle but I don’t know if I will.
